London Office Ranked Highly by Chambers Directory

The London office has been ranked equal 1st in London for Personal Insolvency work and 2nd for Debt Recovery by the influential Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession.

Insolvency: Chambers said:

" Clients believe that this team has "a great blend of talents " and is "hungry for work ," offering a "high-calibre client service." The practice has been heavily involved in recent times in advising and litigating on behalf of HM Customs & Excise in various fraud cases, including those involving carousel or missing trader intra-community fraud. This has involved dealing with significant provisional liquidations and actions for insolvency practitioners in the UK and abroad to recover assets and information, with one excise diversion fraud case involving a successful judgment in the Arena Corporation case in 2003.

Interviewees were full of praise for the "tenacious and dynamic" Frances Coulson. She advised in the well-known Casson Beckman & Partners case, which dealt with the transfer of cases between insolvency practitioners, finding that practitioners do not have an unfettered right to nominate their own successors."

Debt Recovery: Chambers said:

" This team of 25 has had another successful year of growth. Clients recognise that it is "able to handle high volumes of claims promptly and efficiently ." Its online system is a major attraction for clients as it allows them to review their cases and to submit new instructions via the internet. This "proactive " team has strong links with the firm's insolvency department, and, over the past year has seen a marked increase in receivership debts.

A broad range of clients instruct the firm, including national and local governmental departments, as well as major corporates. The firm receives an increasing number of referrals from insolvency practitioners."
